Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get replacement parts?
Replacement parts are available factory-direct from our Lincoln, Nebraska facility. There are three ways to contact us about replacement parts; 1) Online from this website, 2) by e-mail, or 3) by phone at 1-866-523-2363 (toll-free), during our normal business hours of 8am-5pm CST, Monday-Friday. If contacting us by e-mail or phone, please identify parts by part number if possible. A parts breakdown can be found on this website in both the owner’s manual and replacement parts sections.
How long will it take for my parts to arrive?
Part orders usually ship within one business day after ordered, and the same day if ordered by 2 pm CST. FedEx standard ground service from our Lincoln, Nebraska facility will reach 80% of destinations within the contiguous 48 states within just 3 days. For more details, you can view a transit-time map for FedEx standard ground service.
How do I winterize my garden hose reel?
Winterization is fairly quick and easy. View PDF Winterization Instructions.
I ordered the wrong product. Can I exchange it?
Yes. Because we value our relationship with you, we offer a return policy for products purchased directly from us. Within 30 days of purchase, you may return or exchange products that you purchased directly from Rapid Reel for a credit or a refund of the purchase price paid (less shipping and handling). What do I do if my order got lost during shipment or showed up damaged?
Please contact Rapid Reel customer service to assist you in the replacement of the damaged item, or to handle a claim with the carrier for a lost shipment. You can reach us by email or, by phone at 1-866-523-2363.
How do I track my order?
Unless otherwise specified, all orders are shipped via FedEx. Once an order ships, a PDF copy of the invoice, including hot linked tracking number(s), is sent to the e-mail address provided during the checkout process. Simply click on the tracking number and the link will automatically open up the FedEx website with your most recent tracking information.
Is a seal repair kit available for the swivels?
For pressure washer swivels, yes. However, the patented swivel design for the air and garden hose reel swivels was not designed for field repair, mainly because it isn’t necessary. The garden swivel comes with a 10-year no-leak guarantee and 3 years for the air swivel . If it leaks during this period, we’ll send you a whole new swivel. If it leaks after the warranty period, we recommend that you simply replace it with a new swivel. Go to Replacement Parts.
What maintenance is required or recommended?
Triton garden hose reels are completely maintenance free. However, if you live in a winter climate, be sure to winterize the reel to protect it from freeze damage. Click this link to view Winterization Instructions.
My air hose reel has a blue or black inlet hoses that now leaks. Can it be replaced?
The entire plumbing of our air hose reels consists of a two-piece assembly. However, these two pieces (an inlet hose and brass swivel) are not sold separately as the inlet hose is crimped onto the swivel. The Rapid Reel Upgrade kit (part #0.2005.005) will work on reels manufactured from 1998-today. This will include reels with a black or yellow inlet hose. We no longer offer an upgrade kit for reels built prior to 1998 that have a blue inlet hose. You can search for a replacement O-ring in your local hardware store, or you will want to purchase a new air hose reel (model AR134-RR).
Is it normal for garden hose reels to make clicking sound when reeling the hose in?
Yes. The brake is activated when the hose is pulled out, and then brake tension is automatically released during rewind. Its operation is similar to that of a clutch mechanism. The clicking sound during rewind is a result of this innovative design.
Can I repair my reel if it has been damaged by winter freeze?
Yes. The entire plumbing of Rapid Reel garden hose reels consists of an inlet hose and a swivel assembly. Both items are available for purchase either online or by phone. Rapid Reel used two different versions of hose reel plumbing on garden hose reels. To view repair instructions for steel models sold prior to April 2006, click here. To view repair instructions for aluminum TRITON models sold after April 2006, click here.
What size are the wall mount anchor bolts and wood screws that come with the reel?
The specs for the mounting hardware supplied with wall mount garden hose reels are as follows:
  • 1/4" x 2" lag wood screws
  • 5/16" x 1-1/2" anchor bolts
The tire extends too far out on the axle and I can’t get the cotter pin into the hole.
The tires are built with two poly bushings that the axle rides on; one on each side of the tire. Make sure these are fully seated into the hub of the tire by pressing on them firmly with your hand or gently tapping them with a rubber mallet or similar tool.

My garden hose reel seems to be leaking from the "inside" of the axle.
Swivel This is usually the result of one of the following three circumstances:
  1. The swivel may not be hand-tightened enough to the inlet hose.
  2. The rubber washer may be missing or damaged.
  3. A defect in the swivel.
You can trouble-shoot the first two possibilities by checking the connection between the swivel and inlet hose. To remove the swivel, refer to the "Swivel Removal Procedure" in the Assembly Instruction Manual. It will be located toward the end of the assembly steps. Instruction Manuals can be viewed and download from this website if you no longer have yours. Once you've disengaged the swivel from the reel's axle, then:
  • Unthread the swivel from the inlet hose.
  • Remove and check the condition of the rubber washer.
  • Reinstall the rubber washer (or a new one).
  • Re-tighten the swivel onto the inlet hose.
  • Test the connection by turning on water before reattaching swivel to reel.
If the swivel still leaks, contact Customer Service at customerservice@rapidreel.com or 866-523-2363 (toll free).
